Uncle Joe is an amazing man. At 92, he moves slowly and needs his cane to help him balance, but he is game for anything. I asked him if he wanted to go up in the scissor lift and, without hesitation, replied, “Ya-es,” his almost imperceptible Kentucky accent stretching the affirmative into two syllables. It takes some agility, not to mention courage, to climb onto the scissor lift, but Joe managed it with little help. He enjoyed the view from 20 feet up. He’s an inspiration to all of us kids.
