The cable car gripmen know they are on stage, operating, as they do, one of Frisco’s most enduring tourist attractions. Each gripman has a distinct personality, some introverted, some flamboyant. This fellow had a big smile and a word for every passenger, but he especially liked the ladies, flirting with each woman who boarded, and several who were just passing by on the sidewalk.
